Second call for presentations RIPE 79

Dear colleagues, A list of currently accepted RIPE 79 presentations is now published at: https://ripe79.ripe.net/programme/meeting-plan/plenary/ There are still plenary, BoF, tutorial and workshop slots remaining for the final RIPE 79 programme and RIPE Programme Committee will accept new proposals until *8th September 2019*. Please note, that all the submissions we already received and did not explicitly accept or reject are still under consideration for the plenary at RIPE 79. Authors of accepted or rejected presentations have been contacted by the PC via the contact address they provided. You can find the CFP for RIPE 79 below or at https://ripe79.ripe.net/submit-topic/cfp/, for your proposals for plenary session presentations, tutorials, workshops, BoFs (Birds of a Feather sessions) and lightning talks. Please also note that speakers do not receive any extra reduction or funding towards the meeting fee at the RIPE Meetings, see the "Speakers" paragraph in CFP for more information. Although the meeting is mostly technical, it is also a chance for people to meet and network with others in their field. *RIPE 79 will take place from 14-18 October in Rotterdam, The Netherlands* The RIPE Programme Committee (PC) is now seeking content proposals from the RIPE community for the plenary sessions, BoFs (Birds of a Feather sessions), panels, workshops, tutorials and lightning talks at RIPE 79. See the full descriptions of the different presentation formats: https://ripe79.ripe.net/submit-topic/presentation-formats/ Proposals for plenary sessions, BoFs, panels, workshops and tutorials must be submitted for full consideration no later than *8 September 2019*. At present, most working groups will solicit policy proposals, discussion points or other content directly via their mailing lists. If you’re not sure what kind of session you should be presenting at, please visit: https://ripe79.ripe.net/plenary-or-wg/ RIPE Meeting attendees are quite sensitive to keeping presentations non- commercial, and product marketing talks are strongly discouraged. Repeated audience feedback shows that the most successful talks focus on operational experience, research results, or case studies. For example, presenters wishing to describe a commercial solution should focus on the underlying technology and should not attempt a product demonstration. Presenters should indicate how much time they will require. In general, the time allocated for the different presentation formats is as follows: - Plenary presentations: 20-25 minutes presentation with 5-10 minutes discussion - Tutorials: up to two hours (Monday morning) - Workshops: one hour (during evening sessions) to two hours (Monday morning) - BoFs: approximately one hour (during evening sessions) - Lightning talks: 10 minutes in total for both the presentation and any discussion The following general requirements apply: - Proposals must be submitted using the meeting submission system, https://ripe79.ripe.net/submit-topic/ - Lightning talks should also be submitted using the meeting submission system (https://ripe79.ripe.net/submit-topic/) and can be submitted any time up to and including the meeting week. new BGP hijack & visibility tool “BGPalerter”

Dear NLNOG, Recently NTT investigated how to best monitor the visibility of our own and our subsidiaries’ IP resources in the BGP Default-Free Zone. We were specifically looking how to get near real-time alerts funneled into an actionable pipeline for our NOC & Operations department when BGP hijacks happen. Previously we relied on a commercial “BGP Monitoring as a Service” offering, but with the advent of RIPE NCC’s “RIS Live” streaming API [1] we saw greater potential for a self-hosted approach designed specifically for custom integrations with various business processes. We decided to write our own tool “BGPalerter” and share the source code with the Internet community. BGPalerter allows operators to specify in great detail how to distribute meaningful information from the firehose from various BGP data sources (we call them “connectors”), through data processors (called “monitors”), finally outputted through “reports” into whatever mechanism is appropriate (Slack, IRC, email, or a call to your ticketing system’s API). The source code is available on Github, under a liberal open source license to foster community collaboration: https://github.com/nttgin/BGPalerter If you wish to contribute to the project, please use Github’s “issues” or “pull request” features. Any help is welcome! We’d love suggestions for new features, updates to the documentation, help with setting up a CI regression testing pipeline, or packaging for common platforms. Hi all! In just 4 weeks it’s time for NLNOGDay 2019 and we’re working on the last bits and pieces to make it another epic edition. Location: After a lot of location scouting we have decided to go once more to Podium Mozaiek, Bos en Lommerweg 191, 1055 DT Amsterdam Your help is needed! We have been sold out for weeks now, and we have a waiting list. Spoofer Report for NLNOG for Jul 2019

In response to feedback from operational security communities, CAIDA's source address validation measurement project (https://spoofer.caida.org) is automatically generating monthly reports of ASes originating prefixes in BGP for systems from which we received packets with a spoofed source address. We are publishing these reports to network and security operations lists in order to ensure this information reaches operational contacts in these ASes. This report summarises tests conducted within nld.
