Hi all, LeaseWeb is sponsoring OHM2013, and it seems quite a bunch of nlnog members are going - I think it would be fun to organise a little get-together there. As such, you're invited for drinks at the LeaseWeb tent, on Saturday evening (August 3). We've got a tent + seating area, and will take care of the drinks. To get a rough idea about how many people are coming, and to make sure there's enough drinks to go around, this will be RSVP. Hi, Ik ben voor BIT op zoek naar een OOB poortje op Telecity 2 met daarop een paar IP'tjes en een (in normale situaties) verwaarloosbare hoeveelheid bandbreedte. Wij staan in Z2B, een UTP patch naar een collega-ISP zou zeer wenselijk zijn. OOB link ruilen in Globalswitch

Goedemorgen allemaal, Hmm, Teun zette me aan het denken (dankjewel!) en uiteindelijk vraag ik het ook maar hier: voor cloud.nl zoek ik een Out Of Band ethernetlinkje in Globalswitch. Hetzelfde verhaal als dat van Teun: een paar IP-adressen en een verwaarloosbare bandbreedte, op UTP patch. De suite is in Zone 2. Dat betekent dat de bekende Meet-Me-Room 3 in Globalswitch te ver weg is voor een UTP link, althans, dat vertelt Globalswitch ons. Mijn geijkte contacten voor deze dienst zijn daarmee allemaal niet inzetbaar. Wie staat in of vlakbij Zone 2 in Globalswitch en wil een UTP-linkje ruilen? Bedankt! -- Niels Raijer niels at fusix.nl

The project's origins can be traced back to the following line on IRC (translated): [28 Dec 2010/10:26 CET - #NLNOG] "hey, maybe we should create a #nlnog test platform" And now here we are, 2 years later: 188 machines provided by 165 organisations in 39 countries. Compared to 2011 we have more than doubled in size! >From our usage statistics we gather that 65% of organisations actively makes use of the RING through SSH. New services ============================================================ AMP (Active Measurement Project): --------------------------------- One of the biggest changes this year was moving from a distributed master/slave smokeping setup to something much better: AMP. The AMP software performs measurements from every RING node to every other RING node, and reports the results to central collectors which in turn feed a web interface. AMP as a tool offers us insight in end-to-end MTU, jitter, latency, packetloss and historic traceroutes both for IPv4 and IPv6 between all RING nodes. The LG uses the BIRD BGP daemon with a web interface written by one of the RING participants! We currently are exploring if we can use the collected data for a monitoring and alerting system to help participants gain insight in prefix visibility and, for instance hijack events. Stay tuned! Hi, TL;DR D.root-servers.net gaat omnummeren van 128.8.10.90 naar 199.7.91.13. Op 3 januari 2013 veranderen ze de boel, maar het oude adres zal nog 6 maanden blijven werken. Het "D-ROOT" IPv6 adres zal niet veranderen. Het kan geen kwaad om in het nieuwe jaar even te controleren of je resolvers een correcte root.hints hebben. Beste NLNOGers, Graag wil ik jullie aandacht vragen voor de komende RIPE Meeting. Ik zit tegenwoordig in het program committee. En een van mijn taken is het opsnorren van interessante presentaties voor deze geweldige meeting. Als je lid bent van RIPE NCC, moet je zeker naar de RIPE meetings komen, als je geen lid bent van RIPE NCC, dan moet je zeker naar de RIPE meetings komen. Voor mij zijn de RIPE meetings altijd een plek van inspiratie en gezelligheid. Bij deze meetings ontmoet je medenetwerkers in het 'real-life', maar ook de slimste mensen uit onze industrie. De volgende RIPE meeting, RIPE66 vindt plaats van 13 tot met 17 mei in Dublin, Ierland. Overweeg je naar deze RIPE meeting te komen? Dan zou je je moeten afvragen wat jij kunt bijdragen aan de community. Deze meetings hebben natuurlijk geen nut als er niemand uit de internet-community naar de microfoon stapt en kennis deelt met het publiek. Over het algemeen gaan de meeste presentaties over netwerk engineering en operationele aspecten van netwerken. Mogelijke onderwerpen waar je over zou kunnen praten zijn: hoe je netwerk hebt weten te automatiseren, waarom de helpdesk opslag kreeg omdat jij IPv6 aanzette, of bijvoorbeeld interessante open-source software die je hebt ontwikkelt om je netwerkbeheer vele malen simpeler te maken. Ik weet zeker dat veel van jullie ontzettend gave dingen doen op werk maar nooit hebben bedacht dat je dit ook kunt delen met een publiek. Grijp daarom nu je kans! Vooral het delen van ervaringen uit je dagelijkse werkzaamheden kunnen bijzonder waardevol zijn voor de andere community members. exscript - automatiseer je netwerkbeheer

Beste NLNOGers, Voor wie 'exscript' nog niet kent: Exscript is een Python toolkit en een script processor voor het automatiseren van router/switch configuratie via telnet en SSH. Exscript werkt als replacement voor Net::Telnet en of RANCID's clogin gebeuren. Exscript kan gebruikt worden om sessies met routers van Cisco, Juniper, OneAccess, Huawei, Brocade en andere vendors te automatiseren. Exscript verschilt van 'expect' in dat Exscript veel specifieker toe gepast is op netwerk apparatuur. Ik heb afgelopen twee dagen gesleuteld aan de support voor Brocade apparatuur in Exscript en wou dit met jullie delen, inclusief enkele voorbeelden hoe je Exscript kan gebruiken. (De voorbeelden gaan op voor vendors ;-) Exscript kun je gebruiken als python module in je eigen programmatuur, of als kant en klare CLI utility. Een voorbeeld script is hier[1] beschikbaar, ik zal door een paar elementen van het voorbeeld script lopen: Het eerste stuk (brocade safety net) heb ik toegevoegd omdat er een verschil zit tussen hoe FLS, TurboIron & MLX/XMR pagination binnen een terminal sessie regelen. Daarna begint het echte werk: een host aan 'access-list 10' toevoegen, als deze niet al in die ACL staat. show access-list 10 {extract /(^permit host 172.16.18.2$)/ into snmp} {if snmp is not "permit host 172.16.18.2"} conf t no access-list 10 deny any access-list 10 permit host 172.16.18.2 access-list 10 deny any exit {end} Wat er in bovenstaande voorbeeld gebeurd is dat exscript op een router inlogged, en 'show access-list 10' "intyped", de output van dit commando word gefiltered door een reguliere expressie heen, en het resultaat (de regels die matchen) worden in de variable 'snmp' gestopt. Daarna test ik de inhoud van deze variable en als deze niet matched moet exscript weer enkele regels uitvoeren op de router. Je zou een analogie kunnen maken met hoe PHP werkt, waarbij je HTML & PHP code in zelfde bestand met elkaar mixed: de regels welke worden uitgevoerd op de router zijn de HTML, exscript is de webserver en alle tekst tussen { en } is PHP. Loop voorbeeld: show run | include ^clock {extract /(.*)/ as old_clock_config} {loop old_clock_config as config_line} {if config_line is not ""} no $config_line {end} {end} In bovenstaande voorbeeld output 'show run | i ^clock' alle configuratie regels welke te maken hebben met de tijdsinstellingen, 'extract' slaat deze op in een soort array waar je doorheen kan fietsen. Dit concept kan bijvoorbeeld ook gebruikt worden om door alle interfaces op een router te gaan "show int brief" en per interface bepaalde settings aan te passen, binnen de loop kan nog een 'if'-clausule gebruikt worden. Exscript kan netwerk operators helpen bij het weg scripten van saaie taken als ACLs beheren, BGP prefix-filters bijwerken of BCP-settings op je hele netwerk enforcen. De laatste versie van exscript (inclusief brocade patches) kan je in mijn fork op github[2] vinden, een meer complete handleiding is hier[3] beschikbaar.
